Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Sunday received a FIFA delegation led by German football legend Jürgen Klinsmann as part of the promotional tour for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The delegation presented the iconic World Cup trophy during a ceremony marking Algeria’s qualification for the tournament. The event at the presidential palace was attended by Algerian Football Federation president Walid Sadi, former national stars Rabah Madjer and Lakhdar Belloumi, and current international players, symbolizing unity across generations of Algerian football. President Tebboune was presented with a replica of the trophy and joined the delegation for a commemorative photo session.
The 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will see Algeria return to the global tournament after a 12-year absence, having missed the last three editions. The trophy’s stop in Algiers is part of FIFA’s global tour to build anticipation and engage fans ahead of the competition.
