Morocco Launches Special E-Travel Authorization for African Fans Ahead of AFCON 2025

Morocco has introduced a new electronic travel authorization system to make it easier for African football fans to attend the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which the country will host from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. The temporary scheme, called the Autorisation Électronique de Voyage au Maroc (AEVM), applies to nationals of eight African countries Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Gabon, Niger, Senegal, Togo, and Tunisia. Although citizens of these nations are already visa-exempt for Morocco, the AEVM will streamline entry during the high traffic tournament period.

Fans heading to Morocco for AFCON will need to apply online through the YALLA app starting September 25, 2025. The app will also issue the required FanID, which grants access to stadiums and fan zones. For non-football travel including tourism, business, or family visits citizens of the same countries must apply for the AEVM at least 96 hours before departure through the official government portal Access-Maroc.ma, not via YALLA. Authorities outlined several exemptions, holders of diplomatic, service, or official passports, legal residents in Morocco with valid permits, and travelers in airport transit zones, Citizens from the eight countries married to Moroccans (with proof), and persons over 55 years old.

The special AEVM will be valid only from September 25, 2025, through January 25, 2026, after which Morocco will revert to its standard entry procedures. Officials say the move is designed to ensure smoother border management, enhance security, and give fans from across the continent a hassle-free experience as Morocco prepares to welcome one of Africa’s biggest sporting events.
