Preparations for the Central African Republic’s general elections, scheduled for 28 December 2025, moved forward with the arrival of a large consignment of sensitive electoral materials in the capital, Bangui. Authorities confirmed that 96 tonnes of materials including ballot papers, results forms and official voting documents were delivered on 15 December. The shipment was formally handed over by the UN Deputy Special Representative and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mohamed Ag Ayoya, to the president of the National Elections Authority (ANE), Mathias Barthélemy Morouba.

Ag Ayoya said the delivery reflected close cooperation between the Central African government and international partners, noting that the state financed much of the production while the UN and donors supported logistics and coordination. He described the moment as a critical step toward holding credible polls. ANE chief Morouba said the materials would be distributed nationwide with support from the UN peacekeeping mission, MINUSCA, using aircraft and road convoys to reach remote areas. He assured voters that all regions would receive supplies in time for election day. MINUSCA is also providing security and technical assistance as the country prepares for the vote, seen as a key test of stability in a nation that has faced years of conflict and political uncertainty.
