Morocco made history on Saturday after a convincing 3-0 victory over Canada secured a place in the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals, sparking jubilant celebrations among thousands of fans gathered in the capital, Rabat. Supporters packed a stadium in Rabat to watch the match live on a giant screen as the Atlas Lions produced another memorable performance on football’s biggest stage. Although Morocco endured a tense opening period, the North African side grew into the contest and dominated the second half. Midfielder Azzedine Ounahi scored twice to put Morocco in control before Soufiane Rahimi sealed the victory with a late goal, sending the home crowd into celebration.

The result saw Morocco become the first African nation to reach the World Cup quarter-finals on more than one occasion, further cementing the country’s place among the tournament’s top performers. Fans hailed the team’s achievement after the final whistle, expressing confidence that the Atlas Lions could continue their remarkable run. “We’re thrilled that we won the match, and we’ll beat France too. The World Cup will be ours,” supporter Mustapha Bouhia said.
Another fan, Abdellah Bensouda, praised the team’s resilience despite a difficult start. “Despite some nervous moments at the beginning, God bless our national team. This is only the beginning; there’s still a long way to go,” he said. Morocco will now face defending champions France in the quarter-finals in Boston, with the Atlas Lions aiming to continue their historic World Cup campaign against one of the tournament favourites.
