Burkinabè citizens and the diaspora contributed CFA 496.97 billion to Patriotic Support Fund (PSF) by the end of 2025, exceeding the cumulative target of CFA 450 billion and reaching a 110.44% realization rate, authorities announced. Speaking at a press briefing in Ouagadougou, officials credited strong nationwide and diaspora mobilization for boosting support to security forces. The chairman of the PSF management committee, Vieux Abdoul Rachid Soulama, said the funds have significantly strengthened operations of the Volunteers for the Defence of the Homeland (VDP) in counterterrorism efforts.
Annual collections rose steadily: CFA 99.04bn in 2023 (against a CFA 100bn target), CFA 175.69bn in 2024 (target: CFA 150bn), and CFA 222.24bn in 2025 (target: CFA 150bn). Authorities say the money financed uniforms, equipment, food supplies, medical care, allowances and compensation for VDP members and beneficiaries. According to Economy and Finance Minister Aboubakar Nacanabo, PSF resources also supported infrastructure and defense projects, including equipment for the Faso Mêbo Presidential Initiative, rehabilitation of the Kaya–Barsalogo road, and the acquisition of three combat helicopters and aircraft engines. For 2026, the government aims to mobilize at least CFA 200bn, with CFA 15bn already raised by mid-February.
