Egypt has offered to host meetings aimed at de-escalating the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said Wednesday in Cairo. He emphasized that any resolution should be based on a “win-win situation, not a zero-sum game,” and urged direct negotiations between US and Iranian representatives.
Abdelatty noted that opportunities for dialogue may be closing, highlighting the urgency of mediation. Egypt’s efforts are being coordinated with Pakistan and Turkey, as regional actors work to facilitate negotiations. Meanwhile, Iran rejected an initial ceasefire proposal from the Trump administration but may consider talks with US officials, potentially in Islamabad in the coming week. Egypt expressed support for these diplomatic initiatives, signaling its growing role as a mediator in Middle Eastern tensions.
