Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama on Monday, November 3, formally welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to the Jubilee House in Accra, marking the start of a three-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany. The visit, which runs from Sunday, November 2 to Tuesday, November 4, 2025, focuses on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, technology, and education key sectors driving Ghana’s development agenda. A ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Forecourt of the Jubilee House set the tone for the visit, followed by a private meeting between the two leaders. President Mahama and President Steinmeier later led bilateral talks between their delegations, emphasizing joint efforts to boost industrial growth, innovation, and youth entrepreneurship.

President Mahama hosted a State Luncheon in honour of his German counterpart, underscoring Ghana’s appreciation for Germany’s continued support in infrastructure, vocational training, and climate resilience projects across the country. As part of his itinerary in Accra, President Steinmeier visited the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he laid a wreath in honour of Ghana’s founding leader, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. He also interacted with young Ghanaian tech innovators and attended a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence, highlighting Germany’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s growing digital economy.
On Tuesday, the final day of his visit, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi in the Ashanti Region. He is expected to perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute, visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research, and engage students and staff at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He will conclude his trip with a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace. The visit marks another milestone in Ghana-Germany relations, which date back to the early 1960s. Both nations continue to collaborate closely on green energy initiatives, skills development, and regional peacebuilding efforts in West Africa.
