The draw for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be held in Rabat, Morocco, officially launching the tournament’s preparations. The prestigious competition is slated to commence in late December 2025, and it will feature 24 teams from across the continent.
The teams will be divided into six groups of four, with the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-place finishers, advancing to the knockout stage of the tournament.
Among the teams already qualified for the competition are AFCON powerhouses such as Egypt, with seven titles to its name, Cameroon, who have won five titles, and the reigning champions, Ivory Coast, who triumphed in 2023. Morocco, a semi-finalist at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, will be aiming for their second AFCON title, having won the competition in 1976.
Other prominent teams include former African champions Algeria, Nigeria, and Senegal, who are also looking to claim the continental trophy.

In addition to the competition itself, Morocco, which is hosting the AFCON for the first time since the 1988 edition, is determined to deliver a world-class event, focusing on the quality of organization as well as sporting excellence.
