Côte d’Ivoire Repurchases CFA415 Billion in Treasury Securities

Côte d’Ivoire has repurchased about CFA414.93 billion ($750 million) in Treasury bonds on the regional financial market, in an operation aimed at managing its short-term public debt. According to UMOA-Titres, the August 11 operation covered three short-term securities, all carrying a fixed interest rate of 5.50% and maturing between October and December 2026. The government repurchased CFA138.03 billion in 75-day securities, CFA138.25 billion in 89-day securities and CFA138.64 billion in 117-day securities.

All submitted bids were accepted, resulting in a 100% coverage and absorption rate. Weighted average yields ranged from 2.50% to 3%, depending on the maturity. Investor participation came exclusively from Côte d’Ivoire, while no subscriptions were recorded from the other UMOA member states, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. The operation highlights Côte d’Ivoire’s continued use of the regional capital market to manage government financing needs. UMOA-Titres, which coordinates public securities issuance across the West African Monetary Union, regularly facilitates Treasury auctions and debt-management operations for member states.
