Burkina Faso’s Prime Minister Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo has reiterated his government’s strong commitment to deepening collaboration with the World Bank to address the country’s pressing development and security challenges.
The pledge came during a high-level meeting in Ouagadougou with Clara Ana De Sousa, the World Bank’s Country Director for Burkina Faso. Discussions focused on intensifying joint efforts to improve living conditions through targeted interventions in critical sectors.
De Sousa affirmed the World Bank’s ongoing support for Burkina Faso, highlighting the alignment of its country strategy with the transitional government’s priorities. She emphasized continued investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth employment—key pillars for stabilizing the nation and strengthening human capital.
The meeting comes as Burkina Faso faces mounting insecurity from armed insurgencies and economic strain. Both parties agreed on the need to accelerate high-impact programs that promote resilience and inclusive development amid ongoing reforms under the transitional leadership.
