The Ivorian Electricity Company (CIE) has announced the completion of critical upgrades on the 225 kV Buyo-Man N°1 and 2 substation located in Duékoué, western Côte d’Ivoire. The infrastructure overhaul is part of a nationwide effort to modernize and reinforce the national electricity grid to meet rising demand and improve energy reliability. The reinforcement work, which began on June 1 and will continue through June 25, 2025, is aimed at increasing the capacity and operational efficiency of the strategic high-voltage transmission link. Once completed, the upgrade will enhance power distribution to multiple regions and reduce transmission losses.
As a result of the works, temporary power outages and disruptions are expected in the towns of Man, Zagné, Touleupleu, Laboa, Danané, and Ity, as well as nearby localities. CIE has assured residents that all necessary technical teams have been deployed and contingency plans are in place to minimize service interruptions.
This project aligns with Côte d’Ivoire’s Energy Master Plan, which seeks to position the country as a regional energy hub by 2030 through robust investments in generation, transmission, and cross-border electrification projects.
