The Government of Ghana has officially launched a new initiative dubbed the Government Accountability Series, aimed at promoting transparency, citizen engagement, and responsive governance. Announced in July 2025, the program creates a structured platform for sector ministers to provide mid-year performance reviews and highlight achievements, challenges, and ongoing reforms across various ministries. The series will run three times a week — every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11 a.m. — and will be broadcast live on national television, radio, and online platforms to reach a broad audience. It will also allow for limited citizen interaction through pre-submitted questions and social media commentary.
The first session will feature Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, who will address pressing issues in national security, immigration, disaster response, and internal affairs. He is expected to share updates on police modernization efforts, prison reform, and recent operations to combat crime and extremism. The initiative is part of President Mahama’s broader public sector reform agenda and follows calls from civil society organizations and development partners for improved governmental transparency and service delivery reporting.
According to the Ministry of Information, each participating minister will use the platform not only to account for their stewardship but also to clarify government policy and foster trust between public officials and citizens. The series is expected to run until the end of the year, culminating in a comprehensive government report to be tabled in Parliament and shared with the public.
