King Mswati III of Eswatini arrived in Accra on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, for a four-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation with Ghana across multiple sectors. The visit is seen as a significant step in enhancing South–South collaboration and continental integration between West and Southern Africa. King Mswati III was received at Kotoka International Airport by a high-level Ghanaian delegation.
This marks the first official visit by an Eswatini monarch to Ghana and reflects the growing interest of both nations in building diplomatic and economic partnerships. During the visit, several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed to promote bilateral cooperation in areas such as investment facilitation, cultural exchange programs, and traditional leadership governance.
King Mswati will also attend a special durbar hosted by the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, visit historic cultural sites, and meet with members of the Ghana–Eswatini Business Council. Eswatini, one of Africa’s few remaining absolute monarchies, shares strong traditional governance institutions with Ghana, making cultural diplomacy a key element of the trip. The visit is being hailed by regional observers as a symbolic boost to pan-Africanism and intra-African partnerships.
