Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has emphasized the importance of unity, solidarity, and national cohesion as the country marked the end of Ramadan with Korité celebrations. Speaking after participating in the Korité prayer at the Great Mosque of Dakar on March 31, 2025, Faye reaffirmed his commitment to serving Senegal with integrity, diligence, and humility to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
Acknowledging the role of religious and traditional leaders in maintaining social harmony, the president praised the Imam Ratib of the Great Mosque and other clerics for their unwavering dedication to peace and national stability.
“Your prayers are a bulwark for the entire nation, a breath of peace for our living together,” he stated, recognizing their contributions to fostering interfaith and communal harmony.
With Senegalese Muslims celebrating Korité on different days—some on March 30 and others on March 31—Faye used the occasion to stress the need for collective unity despite differences. “Senegal needs all its strength to move forward in harmony. Let us continue to build a nation of peace, fraternity, and equity,” he urged. Faye’s message comes at a crucial time as Senegal navigates economic challenges and socio-political transitions, with his administration focusing on national development and inclusive governance.
