German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to Visit Ghana from November 2–4

President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, will arrive in Ghana on Sunday, November 2, for a three-day State Visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations. According to a statement from the Presidency of Ghana, President Steinmeier’s visit will include high-level talks with President John Dramani Mahama focused on expanding cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and development. The visit officially begins on Monday, when President Steinmeier will inspect a full military guard of honour at the Forecourt of The Presidency before holding a closed-door meeting with President Mahama. A State Luncheon will later be held in his honour at the Presidential Banquet Hall.

While in Accra, the German President will tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, where he will lay a wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and interact with young Ghanaian IT specialists. He will also attend a reception at the German Ambassador’s Residence. On Tuesday, November 4, President Steinmeier will travel to Kumasi, where he will perform a sod-cutting ceremony at the Kumasi Technical Institute and meet staff and alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He will also visit the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research and pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace. President Steinmeier is scheduled to depart Ghana on Tuesday evening. The visit underscores Ghana’s growing partnership with Germany, particularly in areas of education, renewable energy, digital innovation, and sustainable development.
