Ghana and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed a landmark agreement to launch high-level political consultations, marking a new chapter in bilateral relations. The deal was reached during a two-day official visit to the UAE by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and a delegation from the Ministry.
Ghanaian officials, led by a government envoy, held productive talks with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and other top ministers, including those in trade, investment, and political affairs.

Key outcomes include UAE commitments to invest in Ghana’s renewable energy, artificial intelligence, education, healthcare, aviation, and defense sectors. Discussions also focused on labour export opportunities for Ghanaian youth and technical support for a proposed national airline.
The visit was described as both “historic and exceptionally successful” by both parties, with further announcements expected following the finalization of CEPA negotiations.
