NTSB Investigates United Airlines Flight 613 Incident After Sudden Aircraft Movement

The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced on Monday that it is investigating an incident involving United Airlines Flight 613, which experienced unexpected aircraft movement on Friday, resulting in minor injuries to both passengers and crew.

The Boeing 787, which was en route from Lagos, Nigeria, to Washington D.C., encountered the issue while flying through the airspace of Ivory Coast. The aviation authorities in Ivory Coast have delegated the investigation to the NTSB, which is expected to release a preliminary report within the next 30 days.

United Airlines confirmed that the flight, carrying 245 passengers, three pilots, and eight flight attendants, was forced to return to Lagos after experiencing the unusual movement and a technical issue. The aircraft landed safely, and six individuals—four passengers and two flight attendants—were treated at a hospital for minor injuries before being released.

The incident underscores the critical importance of safety protocols, and the NTSB’s findings are anticipated to provide more detailed information regarding the cause of the unexpected movement.
