Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara on Wednesday convened his first Council of Ministers meeting following his re-election for a fourth five-year term in the October 25 presidential vote. Speaking to his cabinet, Ouattara expressed satisfaction at resuming government work after what he described as a “decisive and peaceful electoral process” that reaffirmed Ivorians’ confidence in his leadership. “The outcome of the polls reflects the continued trust and support of our citizens for the collective efforts of this government,” he said, thanking ministers, political allies, civil society organizations, and all stakeholders who contributed to the smooth conduct of the elections.
The president emphasized that adherence to constitutional timelines and transparent electoral procedures strengthens state institutions and deepens the country’s democratic culture, underscoring his administration’s commitment to governance continuity and stability. Ouattara’s re-election follows a politically charged campaign in which he secured a majority vote, and international observers largely described the election as peaceful and orderly, despite criticisms from some opposition groups regarding media access and campaign conditions. The new term begins amid ongoing efforts to boost economic growth, strengthen national infrastructure, and address social inequalities in Côte d’Ivoire, one of West Africa’s fastest-growing economies.
