Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has revealed that the country has successfully prosecuted more than 100 individuals involved in terror financing over the past two years. The announcement was made by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, at the National Anti-Money Laundering, Combating Terrorism Financing, and Counter-Proliferation Financing Compliance Summit in Abuja.
This achievement underscores Nigeria’s aggressive efforts to disrupt financial networks supporting terrorist organizations, including Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). The country’s authorities have implemented stringent measures to detect, prevent, and penalize financial crimes linked to terrorism. The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing national security and curbing the financial support of violent extremist groups.
These developments demonstrate a more coordinated and robust approach by Nigeria in tackling terrorism through legal frameworks and rigorous enforcement measures.
