President Mahama and Akufo-Addo Share Easter Greetings in Kwahu Amid Business Forum

Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama and former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo shared a rare moment of unity over the Easter weekend in Kwahu, Eastern Region, where both leaders participated in holiday and business-related events. On the sidelines of the Kwahu Business and Investment Forum, President Mahama revealed via social media that he paid a courtesy visit to Akufo-Addo, exchanging Easter greetings in what many viewed as a symbolic gesture of political civility. The meeting comes just months after Mahama’s December 2024 electoral victory, which saw him return to power by defeating Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President under Akufo-Addo’s administration.

The Kwahu Easter festivities, known for combining celebration with economic dialogue, also served as a platform for Mahama to engage with business leaders and local entrepreneurs. Speaking at the forum, the President praised the region’s resilient private sector, calling Kwahu a “model of Ghanaian enterprise.” He emphasized the importance of supporting small and medium-sized businesses through targeted economic reforms, improved access to credit, and infrastructure investment. “The entrepreneurial energy I witnessed here strengthens my commitment to reset Ghana’s economy for inclusive growth,” he said.

Mahama’s administration is currently navigating Ghana’s post-crisis economic recovery, backed by an ongoing $3 billion IMF loan program, amid efforts to stabilize inflation, restructure public debt, and boost job creation. Observers noted the symbolic weight of the Easter encounter between the two presidents, as it comes at a time when Ghana faces both economic and political transitions. The interaction was widely welcomed by citizens as a demonstration of national unity and political maturity.
