U.S. Embassy in Ghana Opens 1,000+ New Interview Slots for Tourist and Business Visas

The United States Embassy in Ghana has released more than 1,000 new interview appointments for B1/B2 non-immigrant visas, easing access for applicants seeking to travel to the United States for business or tourism. The embassy said the additional interview slots will become available within the coming week and can be booked through the official U.S. visa scheduling platform. The announcement, shared on the mission’s verified social media channels, also allows applicants with interviews scheduled later in the year to reschedule for earlier dates, subject to availability.

The move is aimed at reducing long waiting times that many applicants in Ghana have faced amid sustained demand for short-term U.S. travel. Embassy officials said the expansion reflects ongoing efforts to improve processing efficiency and manage high application volumes. Demand for U.S. visas in Ghana has remained strong in recent years, driven by business travel, tourism, education-related visits and family connections. While some immigrant visa categories have recently faced tighter restrictions and limited exemptions, the embassy emphasized that non-immigrant visa services, particularly for short term travels are being expanded to address backlogs.

The timing also aligns with increased interest in U.S. travel ahead of major global events, including the upcoming FIFA World Cup. The embassy advised applicants to apply early, especially those with time-sensitive travel plans, and to rely only on official channels to avoid fraud.
