With just weeks to go before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) kicks off, Morocco is ramping up preparations by training hundreds of young volunteers to help ensure the smooth running of the continent’s most prestigious football tournament. The initiative, led by the Moroccan Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and local NGOs, aims to equip young people with essential skills in public communication, logistics, crowd management, and first aid. Workshops held in Casablanca, Rabat, and Marrakesh include both theoretical lessons and hands-on exercises inside stadiums and fan zones. Organizers say the training is part of a broader national effort to promote youth engagement and community service through sport.

“We are proud to contribute to an event that unites Africa,” said Laila Benyoussef, one of the volunteer coordinators. “Our volunteers will be ambassadors of Moroccan hospitality and professionalism.” Morocco will host the 35th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, featuring 24 teams competing in nine stadiums across six cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Marrakesh, Agadir, and Fez. The North African nation, which last hosted AFCON in 1988, is investing heavily in infrastructure upgrades including transport networks, stadium renovations, and digital fan experience platforms to deliver what officials promise will be “the most innovative and sustainable AFCON ever.” As defending champions Côte d’Ivoire prepare to defend their title, anticipation is building for what many see as a showcase of African unity, youth empowerment, and football excellence.
